Our immersion programs offer three levels of supervision: Low, Medium and High. You will find a general description for each of these levels below. Detailed supervision information can be found on the specific program pages so please check the Supervision link at the top of the overview page for any program you are interested in learning more about.
Low: This level of supervision is intended for the mature teen 16+ who is comfortable with a fair amount of independence. Students are accompanied by school staff during class time or on school-organized activities. At all other times they are free to explore the host city and the surrounding areas by themselves or with friends. While there is no formal curfew, if students are not behaving in a manner considered acceptable for their age, this could result in expulsion from the program without refund.
Medium: This level of supervision is intended for teens who are comfortable with a certain amount of independence. Students are accompanied by school staff during class time or on school-organized activities. At other times they may be free to explore the host city by themselves or with friends. There is a daily curfew that students must respect and staff have the right to restrict the freedom of students if they feel students are not adhering to the curfew or program rules. If students are not behaving in a manner considered acceptable for their age, this could result in expulsion from the program without refund.
High: This level of supervision is intended for children and teens who are comfortable with limited independence. School staff accompany students at all times and supervise them during lessons, on school-organized activities and excursions, during meals and in residence (in homestays, host families provide supervision). Students under 15 are not allowed to go out without an adult chaperone. Students 15 and over may have limited independence with written permission from a parent as well as staff approval.
When selecting a program for your child it is important that you understand and accept the level of supervision for that particular program as exceptions are very rarely made.
For your convenience, we have created a program/level of supervision cross reference chart:
