Getting to Malaga

What airport should I arrive to?

For the Mature Teen Residence Program in Malaga, you should arrive to the Malaga International Airport where you will be met by a school chaperone in the arrival's hall.

When should I arrive?

You should plan to arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Saturday (there are no time restrictions for this program). For flights from the US/Canada this means leaving the US/Canada on a Saturday and flying overnight for a Sunday morning arrival in Europe.

How can I get to Malaga from the US/Canada?

There is one direct flight between the US and Malaga International Airport, out of New York (JFK) on Delta Airlines. This flight departs on a Friday night, arriving in Malaga on Saturday morning. If you would like to fly direct, please check with us to make sure the school can accommodate you one day early. There will be extra costs involved. Please contact us for details.

All other flights between the US/Canada and Malaga are indirect flights so you will need to change planes at an airport hub in the UK or Europe (typically London, Paris or Madrid). Here are some possibilities (your travel agent may have additional options):

I'm not comfortable making an overseas flight connection at an international airport

This program is intended for the mature teen who is comfortable with a fair amount of independence and has had some previous overseas travel experience. If you are not comfortable making an overseas flight connection you and your parents may find the level of independence for this particular program to be too much. If this is the case, we recommend that you consider another program such as the Teen Residence Program in Tarragona or the Teen Homestay Program in Costa Rica.

Can I fly as an Unaccompanied Minor?

This program does not support students travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor. If you do not feel comfortable flying without this status we advise against enrolling in a mature teen program.  If you would like to travel as an unaccompanied minor you may want to consider the Teen Homestay Program in Costa Rica.
