Getting to MadridWhat airport should I arrive to? For the Madrid Intensive Junior Teen Residence Program, you should arrive to the Madrid Barajas International Airport where you will be met by a school chaperone in the arrival's hall. You will be taken to program campus approximately 15 kms from the centre of Madrid. When should I arrive? For the July 18th start date, arrival is Sunday, July 18th and departure is Saturday, July 31st or Saturday, August 14th; for the July 31st start date, arrival is Saturday, July 31st and departure is Saturday, August 14th, 2010. For flights from the US/Canada this means leaving the US/Canada the day before your arrival date (Saturday for a Sunday morning arrival and Friday for a Saturday morning arrival). How can I get to Madrid from the US/Canada? There are numerous direct flights between the US/Canada and Madrid. Here is a partial list of airlines (this list is by no means comprehensive so check with your travel agent for additional options): There are also numerous indirect flights between the US/Canada and Madrid Barajas International airport. We suggest you contact your travel agent for options. Can I fly as an Unaccompanied Minor? Yes, this program does support students travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor. You must advise us in advance if you have booked this service with your airline. Please note: there is $75 service charge to coordinate the special airport pick-up and drop-off requirements with the host school. If I want to make my own travel arrangements can you recommend any good travel sites? There are some great sites out there! In addition to www.expedia.com, www.expedia.ca, www.travelocity.com and www.travelocity.ca a few of our favorites include www.kayak.com, where you can compare different fares and then book directly through the website offering the best price and www.farecast.com, where you can compare fares and get a forecast of the best time to buy your ticket based on whether or not fares are predicted to go up or down. And once you have your booking confirmed, be sure to provide us with your travel plans by e-mail so we can inform the school! Please note: For the Madrid Intensive Junior Residence Program you should plan to arrive/depart between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. We cannot guarantee accommodation availability for arrivals before the arrival or departure days listed above. Also, there may be extra transfer charges if you arrive or depart outside of these days or the hours listed above.
