Important Information For Teens Going Abroad

If you are considering a language immersion program you likely have lots of questions and, happily, we have lots of answers! We recommend that you go through our web site for basic information but, most importantly, we encourage you give us a call toll-free on 1 888 386 1411 and tell us what you are looking for so we can help you select an immersion program that is just right!

We've taken the liberty of providing below links to information about the issues that we anticipate are most important to you.  If we haven't touched upon something that matters to you, or if you need additional information, please don't hesitate to contact us.

  • Are you ready? If this is your first time travelling overseas without your family, one of the most important considerations is determining whether or not you are ready for an immersion experience. On our Are You Ready? page you will find six questions to ask yourself when assessing your readiness.
  • What to Expect: How do you know what to expect from an immersion program? Our What to Expect page talks about everything from who the other program participants will be to what your room will be like on campus or in your homestay.  We also address the realities and challenges of immersing yourself in a foreign language and culture and how to ensure you get the most out of your immersion experience.
  • Program Rules: For any immersion program to operate effectively it is essential that students behave in a respectful and cooperative manner at all times. Visit our Program Rules page for information on what kind of behavior our partner schools are expecting from program participants.
  • Free Time: Each of our programs consist of daily language classes (Monday to Friday) and culture and leisure activities.  For most of our programs the culture and leisure activities are mandatory and for some they are optional (but always highly recommended!).  But all of our programs offer some free time to relax on your own or with new friends.  Visit our Free Time page to learn about how much free time you can expect and how you can use it.
  • How to Prepare: Being well prepared for your immersion experience is the best way to ensure that you will get the most out of your program.  On our How to Prepare page we'll look at ways you can get ready (whether you have months or days to prepare) from self-study to what to pack and beyond.
