Important Program Information For Parents

We understand that the idea of sending your child overseas, whatever their age, can be overwhelming.

It may be the first time they have travelled by themselves so it's a big step! If you're seriously considering an overseas program for your son or daughter you likely have many questions.

We recommend that you go through our web site or contact us for basic information but, most importantly, we encourage you give us a call toll-free on 1 888 386 1411 so you can tell us about what you are looking for and we can help you determine if an immersion program is the right choice for your son or daughter.

We've taken the liberty of providing below links to information about the issues that we anticipate are most important to parents.  If we haven't touched upon something that is important to you, or if you need additional information, please don't hesitate to contact us.

  • Is Your Child Ready? One of the most important considerations is determining whether or not your child is ready. On our Is Your Child Ready page you will find six questions to ask yourself when assessing your child's readiness.
  • Choosing a Program: How do you decide which program is the right program for your child? Our Choosing a Program page walks you through the different types of programs that we offer as well as makes recommendations on which teens typically get the most out of the different types of programs.
  • Supervision: The programs we offer provide low, medium or high levels of supervision. Visit our Supervision page to learn more about what each of these levels represent in terms of how your child will be supervised as well as see a full listing of what level of supervision each of our programs offer.
  • What to Expect: Teens who are happiest with their program choice are those who have realistic and well-matched expectations for the program they choose.  We can't stress enough how important this is because if you or your child are expecting one thing and experience another you may be disappointed!
  • Student Behaviour: For any immersion program to operate effectively it is essential that students behave in a respectful and cooperative manner at all times. Visit our Student Behaviour page for information on what kind of behavior our partner schools are expecting from program participants.
  • Staying in Contact: We understand that you will want to be able to stay in contact with your son/daughter while they are away. Visit our Staying in Contact page for information on how you can do this.
  • Money Issues: Sending your teen with an adequate supply of and easy access to cash is very important! Visit our Money Matters page for information on how much money your teen should take, what they will need it for and the best way to take it.
