Getting to Benalmadena

What airport should I arrive to?

For the Teen Homestay Program in Benalmadena, you should arrive to the Malaga International Airport where you will be met by a school chaperone in the arrival's hall. From Malaga, you will taken to your homestay in Benalmadena which is about 8 km from the Malaga International Airport.

When should I arrive?

You should plan to arrive on a Sunday and depart on a Sunday between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM. For flights from the US/Canada this means leaving the US/Canada on a Saturday and flying overnight for a Sunday morning arrival in Europe.

How can I get to Malaga from the US/Canada?

There is one direct flight between the US and Malaga International Airport, out of New York (JFK) on Delta Airlines. This flight departs New York on a Friday night, arriving in Malaga on Saturday morning. If you would like to fly direct, please check with us to make sure the school can accommodate you one day early. There will be extra costs involved. The return flight departs on a Saturday from Malaga. As this particular program finishes on a Sunday, you will have to depart one day early.  There are no refunds for an early departure. Please contact us for details.

All other flights between the US/Canada and Malaga are indirect flights so you will need to change planes at an airport hub in the UK or Europe (typically London, Paris or Madrid). Here are some possibilities (your travel agent may have additional options):

I'm not comfortable making an overseas flight connection at an international airport

We completely understand your concern.  If this is your first independent overseas trip you may prefer to attend a program that does not involve an overseas flight connection. If this is the case, we suggest you consider the Teen Homestay Program in Costa Rica.

Can I fly as an Unaccompanied Minor?

This program does not support students travelling as an Unaccompanied Minor. If you do not feel comfortable flying without this status we advise against enrolling in this program.  If you would like to travel as an unaccompanied minor you may want to consider the Teen Homestay Program in Costa Rica.

If I want to make my own travel arrangements can you recommend any good travel sites?

There are some great sites out there!  In addition to www.expedia.com, www.expedia.ca, www.travelocity.com and www.travelocity.ca a few of our favorites include www.kayak.com, where you can compare different fares and then book directly through the website offering the best price and www.farecast.com, where you can compare fares and get a forecast of the best time to buy your ticket based on whether or not fares are predicted to go up or down.

Please note: The Teen Homestay Program in Benalmadena starts on a Sunday and ends on a Sunday.  You should plan to arrive/depart between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM. We cannot guarantee accommodation availability for arrivals before Sunday or departures after Sunday. Also, there may be extra transfer charges if you arrive or depart outside of these days or the hours listed above.  Please call us toll-free on 1 888 386 1411 if you are having trouble getting flights for the required days/times.

Once you have your booking confirmed, be sure to provide us with your travel plans so we can inform the school!
