Important Information About Mature Teen and Gap Year Programs

Not all students under the age of 18 need or want to be heavily supervised and we get that! On the other hand, we also understand that, while you may be looking for some independence, you don't necessarily want to be completely on your own. With this in mind, we have carefully selected a handful of programs that are well suited to mature teens and gap year students between the ages of 16 and 20. These programs fall under two categories:

1. Young Adult Programs

These programs are specifically designed for and only open to students between the ages of 16 and 20. They offer a low level of supervision but students are given some structure with organized pre-paid daily activities and excursions that they can join when not in class. These programs are offered in the summer only and include:

2. Adult Programs

These programs are open to all students 16 and over (there is no upper age limit). They offer a very low level of supervision and students are completely free when not in class to decide how they would like to spend their time. Students can join optional school organized activities and excursions on a pay-as-you-go basis. These programs are offered in the summer and throughout the year and include:

• Gap Year Program in Montreal (Canada) - limited to students 18 and over

• Gap Year Program in Florence (Italy)
• Gap Year Program in Rome (Italy)
• Gap Year Program in Kanazawa (Japan)
• Gap Year Program in St. Petersburg (Russia)

Please note:

It is important to know that in all mature teen and gap year programs there are no curfews and students are not prohibited from drinking alcohol so long as they are of legal drinking age in the host country. Also, school staff and host families do not conduct room checks in the evening to make sure students have returned to their accommodation. Students are free to come and go as they please so long as they are behaving in a respectful and responsible manner.
