Gap Year Programs
Learning a language is extremely fun when you do it with other students from around the world! You probably understand the benefits of speaking more than one language but you may be finding it difficult to develop language fluency with only a few hours a week of instruction. It is a well known fact that the best way to learn a language is to completely immerse yourself in the culture where it is spoken. Why not take a year off from work or school to participate in a Gap Year Language Program? Gap Year Programs have come a long way since the 1970's when they first started gaining popularity. And while many students will choose to work, volunteer or simply travel, more and more high school grads are enrolling in language immersion programs with a view to not only furthering their language skills but also expanding their horizons, refreshing themselves intellectually and gaining some real life experience before committing to the next phase of their academic lives. The Learning Traveller is pleased to offer year-round language immersion programs for students 16+ in 6 key languages and more than 9 wonderful locations:
Programs can be booked for as little as two weeks and for stays up to 12 months (not possible at all locations; click on the Gap Year Program links above for specific course lengths). All levels from beginner to advanced are accommodated and all programs offer at least one, if not two or three, accommodation options including homestay, residence and shared/private apartments. Colleges and universities are beginning to see the value of a year off after high school.
