The Teen Residence Program in Playa del Carmen, Mexico is suited to the student who is looking for a language + culture immersion program in a Spanish-speaking Caribbean environment. The program is ideal for students who have limited travel experience. You must be comfortable under the guidance of outgoing and knowledgeable monitors and like to interact with international students. Location

Mexico is a truly wonderful location to immerse yourself in the Spanish language and Central American culture.  The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful, the people are incredibly friendly and life is easy!

Our Mexican summer program takes place in our brand new school complex which combines our language classrooms with beautiful accommodation and leisure facilities in one building. It is located in the wonderful community of Playa del Carmen.   The popular street Quinta Avenida is only a few minutes away and is lined with cafes, restaurants and shops. You'll visit beautiful beaches, incredible underground caves for snorkeling, community non-profits, the famous Mayan ruins and many different festivals and celebrations!

Course

Perhaps what makes this program most unique is the mix of stimulating language classes with weekly volunteer work. Volunteer placements are usually at schools for underprivileged children or orphanages, or cleaning the local beaches.  The program also offers rich and varied cultural activities that include dance classes, indigenous arts and crafts and cooking lessons.  Of course, there is always time for relaxing and there are weekly sports activities such as swimming and soccer as well as leisure activities such as movie nights and concerts. 

Classes are offered Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 12:30PM.  Classes cover all aspects of Spanish language learning including grammar, vocabulary, oral comprehension and oral fluency.  The emphasis is on conversation and you will be encouraged to speak in class as well as use the Spanish you are learning when you are with your class and out exploring.  Please see our sample schedule for more information.

Teachers

Teachers are all fully qualified to teach Spanish as a second language and have many years of experience teaching young learners.  They design lessons that are engaging, challenging and fun!

Accommodation

You will stay in our school complex with warm and welcoming 3-4 bedded rooms with shared bathrooms.  The building includes a pool, leisure facilities, the classrooms, internet access, dining facilities, on-site study facilities, and various courtyards and gardens.
