Have an experienced nature guide take you on an informative hike through one of the most beautiful parks in Costa Rica.  Transportation to the Park (one way) and entrance fee is included. $5 of extra charge for less than 3 people.

Volleyball on the beach

Time: 2:00 p.m.

Place: on the beach, in front of Cabinas Ramírez

Let´s get together to have fun on the beach. You can meet us there at 2:00 or here at 1:30 to take the bus.

Noche Suiza

Time: 5:00 p.m.

Place: COSI  

Our commitment as a language institute is to promote cultural understanding and tolerance. Every month, we choose a celebration to show part of a culture, either costarican or one of our students’ country. Come to enjoy the delicious food and learn about the beautiful country of Switzerland. Our swiss students and classmates will be our hosts. *Minimum 10 people

OR: Movie night at COSI:    “Diarios de motocicleta”   Spanish with English subtitles.

Based on a true life story, the film is an inspiring and thrilling adventure that traces the youthful origins of a revolutionary spirit. It follows 2 daring friends, Ernesto “Che” Guevara (Gael García) and Alberto, who hop on the back of a beat-up motorcycle for a breathtaking and exciting road trip across Latin America.

We  would like to share part of our culture.  Enjoy the Costa Rican folkloric dances performed by a group of the community and our typical food.

*Please note, no alcohol is permitted in the school buildings.

ARENAL VOLCANO & HOT SPRINGS – 1 day ~$79

Departure: 09:10 a.m. / Return: 11:00 p.m.

You will have lunch in the restaurant of La Casa de Victor, located in San Ramón. The price includes the entrance fee to the Tabacón Resort, a natural spa where you will have dinner. Bring bathing suit & a towel. The Volcán Arenal National Park is relatively new. It was founded in 1995. Visiting the active volcano is an unforgettable experience. The best time to see it is definitely at night. You can watch it from the Tabacón Resort area, a natural spa close to the volcano. The Resort uses hot water which springs from the volcano.

CARARA BIOLOGICAL RESERVE & BEACH RESORT ~$75

Pick up time: 6.40 a.m. Approx. Duration: 10 hours.

We begin our trip with a delicious breakfast on the way to the Pacific coast. In approximately two hours, you will have the opportunity to visit one of the few places showing the transition between rain forest and the dry tropical forest.
This characteristic has made the trip very informative, since you can find a big diversity of birds, plants, reptiles and other mammals.
A delicious lunch will be served in one of the best hotels in Jaco Beach that has a festive, tropical atmosphere.
The Carara reserve is the northernmost tropical wet forest on the Pacific coast and is famous for its abundance of flora and species of fauna, such as crocodiles, ocelots, sloths, monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, trogons, etc.

IRAZU /OROSI / LANKESTER GARDENS ~$54

Departure: 8:00 a.m. / Return: 5:30 p.m.

In the morning you will visit the Irazú Volcano National Park and the church of La Basílica de los Angeles in the former capital of Cartago.
You will have lunch in the restaurant of La Casona del Cafetal located in Cachí. In the afternoon, you will visit Valle de Orosí, Lankester Gardens and the colonial church of Orosí. The centerpiece of the Volcán Irazú National Park is Irazú, the highest active volcano in Costa Rica.

The park is created by several craters and from the summit, it is possible to see both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts on a clear day.
A Lankester garden is an orchid garden run by the University of Costa Rica. Apart from orchids, there are many other plants and an arboretum with a variety of Costa Rican ecosystems. Orosí is one of the few colonial towns to survive Costa Rica’s earthquakes. It was named after a Huetar Indian chief who lived here at the time of the conquest. There is a church that was built in the first half of the 18th century that is still in use.

POÁS VOLCANO & LA PAZ WATERFALL GARDENS – 1 day ~$65

Departure: 8:00 a.m. / Return: 5:00 p.m.

The tour will take you along the Pan-American heading towards the town of Alajuela and pass by the way to the Agriculture Monument, Juan Santamaria statue and Mango´s Park. On the top of the volcano you will spend enough time to observe the principal crater with its sulphur fumaroles. As we continue towards the Caribbean area, we will stop to discover La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a Nature Park where we will walk on the truly spectacular trails that will lead us to Magia Blanca (the largest and the most spectacular of the falls in the area).
At the Park you will also witness the largest enclosed butterfly observatory in the country and a amazing hummingbird gallery with a beautiful collection of tropical jewels. A buffet lunch will be ready for us after the tour. Now we are ready to go back to San José.
THE BUTTERFLY FARM ~$20 This is a great place to visit. It is half-a-day tour where you will learn about the relationship between the beautiful winged insects, their host plants, and their predators, as well as the amazing transformations that take place within their life cycle. The price includes transportation, entrance to the garden and the guide service.
COFFEE TOUR ~$35 You will visit the coffee farm (finca) and continue with a bilingual presentation to describe the historical importance of coffee to Costa Rica.
The tour also shows parts of the production process and finishes with coffee-tasting sessions.

FOUR IN ONE – 1 day ~$78

Departure: 6:20 a.m. / Return: 6:00 p.m.

In the morning, after having a typical breakfast in the restaurant of Las Chorreadas in Fraijanes, you will visit the Volcán Poás National Park and the waterfalls of La Paz and San Fernando. You will have lunch in the Selva Verde Lodge restaurant located in Sarapiquí. In the afternoon, you will go on a boat tour on the Sarapiquí River and you will pass through the Braulio Carrillo National Park.
