Location

Famous for its opulent palaces, gold temples, towering walls and ornate gates, Beijing’s magnificent architecture, art treasures and universities have long made this capital city the nexus for culture, art and learning in China.  Beijing is the second largest city in the country (after Shanghai) and the sheer abundance of sites to take in while discovering this urban metropolis is outstanding.  Beijing is a city that almost everyone enjoys.  From well known sites, such as Tiananmen Square, the biggest central square in the world and the largest and best preserved imperial palace, The Forbidden City, to gleaming high rises and little antique and silk markets, this city has it all. Beijing offers a visitors a remarkable juxtaposition of history and rapid modern development.

Program

This Beijing 50 Plus Language Learning Holiday program is an ideal opportunity for senior students to learn both the Chinese language and culture while visiting China.  It’s also a wonderful way to meet people of a similar age and with similar interests.  The language holiday program consists of Chinese language classes in the morning and cultural activities and excursions in the afternoons, evenings and on the weekend.

Mandarin Lessons

This Chinese language holiday course consists of 20 language classes per week. On the first day of school, a placement test is conducted to determine your level of Chinese. There are eight different levels, from total beginner to advanced.  Depending on how much Chinese you already speak, you may be placed in a class with adults who are under 50 if it is the best match for your level. 

Teachers

Every teacher holds a university degree and is experienced in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.  The teaching methods combine all aspects and skills of language such as grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, listening, reading, conversation and writing in an interactive way that makes language learning productive and interesting.

Accommodation

Our partner school in Beijing can arrange living accommodations to optimize your experience.  You have a choice of three different types of accommodations with an average of 30 minutes transportation time to school.  All accommodation types are located close to shops, banks and post offices.

1. Private Studio Apartment: Private apartments in residential buildings include all furniture, bed linens, towels, washing machine, TV, air-conditioning, free broadband Internet access, telephone and free local phone calls.  The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, stove, pans, cutlery.
2. Single Room Shared Apartment: Private rooms in residential buildings have shared bathrooms and a kitchen shared with other international students.  Each room includes all furniture, bed linens, towels, washing machine, TV, air-conditioning, free broadband Internet access, telephone and free local phone calls. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, microwave, stove, pans, cutlery.
3. Homestay: This accommodation offers a full immersion experience.  With a fully-furnished private room and access to the family's kitchen area, you will share in daily meals, conversation and family activities.  Each homestay includes a washing machine, TV, air-conditioning, free broadband Internet access, telephone and free local phone calls.
